Public and Indigenous Peoples Consultation

Consultation with the public, Indigenous Peoples, interest groups and individuals is an integral component of this study. The consultation process has to date included meetings with key stakeholders and Community Cafés with the Public and Fort William First Nation Community.

The Community Cafés were held on January 17, 2018 for the public Café and February 12 for the Fort William First Nation Community.  The Cafés provided an opportunity to listen to the public and Fort William First Nation Community before initiating any technical activities. The Community Cafés were a collaborative community involvement tool that goes beyond the conventional information exchange at formal public meetings. The informal events involved listening to small group discussions in order to document what each community wants to be addressed.

The first online Public Information Centre (PIC No. 1) began on Monday, October 4, 2021, and ran for a 2-week period.

The second PIC was held on October 5, 2023, in person. PIC exhibits are available to view on the Public Consultation page.

A third PIC will be scheduled later in the study.
